Scenes around town

The day before we left Legazpi, we spent some time going around town to check on some of our friends that we hadn't heard from. Even though it had been more than a week since the storm had hit, the damage was still unbelievable.

These pics are of our pediatrician's clinic. All she was able to save were her immunizations.

Our pediatrician, Dr. Lynn, and her family.

This is what's left of our friend's house. She and her family were inside when the roof blew off. At one point, while she and her husband went back upstairs to get some documents, she grabbed ahold of one of the pillars and the wind was so strong that her body was horizontal in the air!
Needless to say, they lost almost everything.

Praise God that they were all safe.

Some final thoughts......

If there's one thing that stands out from this whole ordeal, it is the reality of God's protection. Although there were thousands in our province that lost their lives, God protected not only our family but also all of the people involved in our house churches. As the winds blew and the waters rose, we knew we were in the palm of His hand.

During the following days and weeks, several songs ministered to us in ways they had never ministered before. It's amazing how REAL songs can become when you go through something hard. But there is one song that kept going through my head and I don't think I'll ever sing it again without remembering all we went through during this storm. There are many types of "storms" in this life, but through them all our God is there to hold on to us.

The chorus of that song says....

"Oh no, You never let go

Through the calm and through the storm

Oh no, You never let go

In every high and every low

Oh now, You never let go

Lord, You never let go of me"
