August Extras

Here are a few "extras" from the month of August.

One day I found Carly cuddled up with 2 of the kittens doing her reading for school.

We recently went out to the Bible college for a meeting and Caleb was excited that his good friend, RJ, was there! RJ and his family are from the Philippines but live and work in a Creative Access Nation. They had come home briefly and we were so blessed to be able to see them briefly.

While we were at the college, Carly discovered that the goat had had babies! They were too cute!

The kittens are learning to eat now. They were enjoying this rice and fish!

They say a picture is worth a thousand words. For those of you who have ever driven/ridden in the Philippines, this picture explains a lot!!!

At the end of August, we were privileged to have some friends over for dinner. These friends also live and work in a Creative Access Nation and will soon be returning there. We so enjoyed sitting and talking with them and learning how we can better pray for them in their work.

Birthday Party

On August 24th, we attended a 1st birthday party of Yves Denise Cortez. Her parents, Dennis and Yvonne, are good friends and go to our church. 1st birthdays in the Philippines are a huge celebration! This baby girl has been prayed for for a long time and we were so blessed to be able to celebrate together with her parents and grandparents!

Unlike many American birthday parties, Filipino birthday parties have a full meal plus cake!

Traditional birthday fare - pancit (noodles) and hot dogs and marshmallow on a stick! (I know, very different, but traditional here)

Kittens.....again

This week our cat, Cali, had her second batch of kittens. She was a little bigger than last time, so we were thinking that she might have 4 or 5 this time. When all was said and done, she had 7!!!

New Friends

Carly and Caleb have been blessed to make friends with Psalm and Miles, who go to our church and live in the neighboring subdivision. They were out of school on Monday, August 18th and spent the afternoon at our house!

The Office

One of Wade's first "assignments" in his new job is renovating the former bookstore area into a smaller bookstore, a conference room and office space. After several weeks of planning, construction has begun! We'll be sure and post pictures of the finished product, but here is what it looks like now.

August 12th was the big day! Back to school!!

When I went in the night before to tuck Caleb into bed, this was how he'd laid his clothes out for the next day! ha ha ha
