Going Home

Once we left Legazpi - trying to get out of town before yet another typhoon hit - we were able to put some things behind us and begin to relax. However, it was emotionally very difficult to leave. As much as we wanted to go home, we felt bad leaving - knowing how difficult the situation was for all those left behind. But we knew at that point that in order for us to be able to go back and minister to people there, we needed some time with friends and family, away from the situation.

We had one glorious night at the Holiday Inn Galleria in Manila. If felt so good to be cool and clean!

As soon as we got into our room, Carly and Caleb kicked off their shoes and dove onto the bed. As they lay on the clean, crisp, white sheets, Caleb said...."THIS IS THE LIFE!!"

We were excited to see a new TGI Friday's (Carly's fav) next to the hotel.

One of our missionary friends, Debbie Witherow, met us for lunch at Friday's. Debbie used to live near us in the Bicol Region but now lives in Metro Manila.

After a very long flight from Manila, we made it to Los Angeles.

It was good to see the Stars and Stripes.

We had a LONG lay-over in LA so the kids decided to watch a movie.

Did I mention it was a REALLY LONG lay-over??

When we got to Dallas, the kids were excited to ride the new DFW tram. (I think Dad was still asleep.)

But NOTHING compares to the water fountains - something we don't have in the Philippines. (And if we did have them, you wouldn't want to drink from them!)

After over 30 hours of travelling, we made it to Little Rock. We were greeted by Minnie, Papaw and Uncle Sam.

Carly had a huge surprise when two of her best friends, Addie and Emily, popped out from around the corner! They had been hiding and waiting for us to arrive. Carly was sooooo excited to see them! (Thanks Paula and Karen for letting them skip school to meet us. It meant so much to Carly.)

After we left the airport, we stopped by the Missions Office. Carly was excited to see Tita (Aunt) Dar.

Bro. Higgs thanked God for His protection and travelling grace.

Before heading to Conway, we had to stop for some Mexican food! Yum!

Ahhh. It's good to be back!
