A Square, a Stroll and a Street with Snacks

After visiting the Forbidden City, we went across the street to Tienanmen Square.

 Dar was explaining to us what happened on June 4, 1989. 

 Maybe we'd been sight-seeing too long, but for some reason things began to get a little silly!

 Sarah was in her own world! Dar was not quite sure what to think! LOL

 "Oh, what will I do with these crazy girls??!!"

 There's really not a lot to take pictures of in the Square. It's basically a big piece of concrete (with a big history). So we had to get creative!!

 After leaving the Square, we took a little stroll through this beautifully peaceful little park. We walked slowly, arm in arm, and shared some deep "heart" conversations. Such a special memory.

 When we exited the park, we were near Snack Street, which was basically a street with all sorts of Chinese snacks!

 Some of the snacks we tried were REALLY good. Some were........interesting, to say the least.

 Anyone for scorpions, sea horses or starfish on a stick???

 (Don't worry. We didn't eat these.)

 Or these. I think they are some sort of beetle or worm??

 How about snake on a stick??

 We DID eat these!! Strawberries on a stick, dipped in some sort of hard, sugary glaze. DIVINE!!!

 Maybe the best thing we ate on the whole trip!! (Especially for a couple of girls from the Philippines that NEVER get strawberries!)

 This was pretty good, but a little bit on the spicy side!

 HAD to go back for more strawberries, but this time they were with kiwi slices. Yes, those were the biggest kiwi I've ever seen!

 Some sort of veggie-wrap. Pretty good, but a little bland.

 Yep, we pretty much all tried everything.

 This was some sort of French toast/donut type thing. 

 We thought these were like donuts. FYI - they looked better than they tasted.

 The end of Snack Street. All those stands on the right were selling Chinese candy. Of course, Sav had to stop and buy some. 

 Burger King!!!! Chinese style!
